Check out this story by MG Siegler at VentureBeat regarding the 3G iPhone. Sigler speculates on possible functionality and price, and states that the phone may not come out later this month as some have predicted.
Even though my Blackberry Pearl has been steadily losing functionality for weeks, I’ve been holding out on buying a new phone purely out of spite towards other mobile options. The iPhone is a long-awaited injection of innovation and I’m excited to hear rumors of a $199 price tag as well as (small squeal of delight) video capabilities.
When the phone does launch the lines outside of Apple will contain more than just early adopters. An awesome and inexpensive 3G device will make the closed CE market more consumer-friendly, push other networks to expand their 3G offerings and encourage companies based on this technology to finally embrace the US.
In any case, you can bet that I’ll be there, scotch-taped blackberry in hand, eager to sign two years of my life away for a piece of the 3G pie.
